Plans for the building of a W4 Youth & Community Centre to be located at Southfield Recreation Ground are progressing with a partnership announced between W4 Youth and Rocks Lane Sports Trust.
Under the new partnership, the two will join the Ealing Consortium for the Football Foundation PlayZones project. A number of parks across the borough will receive Football Foundation funding to renovate or build a PlayZone. Southfield Recreation Ground has been identified as a potential park to renovate the existing area where people play basketball and five a side football and to also build a new PlayZone.
Sally Chacatte, W4 Youth founder and chair said: “Rocks Lane has always been very close to our hearts as it’s where our son found much solace in his teenage years after the incident that happened to him back in 2009. Partnering with Rocks Lane Sports Trust is an exciting next step in W4 Youth’s journey on the development of the W4 Youth & Community Centre and other plans for Southfield Recreation Ground. Our purpose and values are totally aligned and we look forward to all that it brings in the future.”
Chris Warren, MD of Rocks Lane said: “I’m excited to expand our work together and to create a partnership between The Rocks Lane Sports Trust and W4 Youth to create The W4 Youth & Community Centre and associated community facilities for local people and especially the younger members of our community. I have very fond memories of regularly playing sport at my local youth club in Yorkshire.”
Later this month W4 Youth and Rocks Lane Sports Trust will also be hosting a community fun event along with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust which will also provide more details of their plans. The event takes place on 30 September 2023 from noon at Southfield Recreation Ground.
