A new report has rated Ealing as 6.16 out of 10 for being a child friendly London borough to live in. The data revealed who was performing better than others and was based on a number of factors including average rent prices, number of schools, as well as the number of recorded crimes, nurseries and childminders.
The data, compiled by Alan Boswell Landlord Insurance, looked at how each borough was performing and revealed Richmond upon Thames as being number one with an 8.2 out of 10 score and Barking & Dagenham at the bottom rated 4.70 out of 10.
Compared to neighbouring boroughs, Ealing was above Brent who scored 5.96/10 and Hounslow at 5.72/10. But Hammersmith & Fulham performed better at 6.48/10 and it was 6.38/10 for Hillingdon.
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, Heath Alexander-Bew, director of Alan Boswell commented on the findings:
“Although it ranks 22nd in the research, Ealing, a charming borough nestled in West London, is a delightful place for families with children to call home, with an admirable family-friendly borough score of 6.16/10. Its lush green spaces and parks, earning it the moniker Queen of the Suburbs, offer endless opportunities for outdoor adventures and picnics. Ealing’s vast green areas like Walpole Park, Ealing Common, and Pitshanger Park offer serene retreats for relaxation, sports, and family outings. The botanical beauty of Walpole Park, in particular, is a local treasure.
“Ealing’s strong emphasis on education is evident through its excellent schools, with 16 schools per 100,000 people, including four outstanding schools, including Ealing Fields High School and Drayton Manor High School, providing top-tier education options for families. The borough also offers a variety of childcare options, with two nurseries and five childminders per 100,000 people, making it convenient for working parents.
“While Ealing is generally safe and family-friendly, it’s important to note that there were 8,132 recorded crimes per 100,000 people in the area, between 2022 and 2023. It generally maintains a lower crime rate compared to most other boroughs in London, contributing to a feeling of safety among residents.
“With multiple tube, train, and bus stations, the borough provides excellent connectivity for commuters, making commuting a breeze, whether you’re headed to work in Central London, heading to Heathrow Airport or exploring the city’s cultural treasures. It also hosts various community events and markets, such as the Ealing Farmers’ Market, to foster a strong sense of community and allow residents to connect with their neighbours.
“Therefore, Ealing stands out as a haven for families seeking a high quality of life, despite the cost of living, with an average rent for a 2-bed flat at £2,652pcm. In addition, the borough’s outstanding historic architecture and charming neighbourhoods, like Pitshanger Village with its award-winning high street, add character to the borough.”
