Ealing Trailfinders players tackle Christmas carols at Dickens Yard

Players from Ealing Trailfinders men’s and women’s rugby teams have sung their hearts out with Christmas carols and other festive tunes at Ealing Broadway’s Dickens Yard.

More than 30 players braved the wet weather on Monday (4 December 2023) to offer renditions of The Twelve Days of Christmas, Last Christmas, Love Is All Around and All I Want for Christmas.

They players were warmly welcomed by locals at Dickens Yard where money was raised to support Trailfinders outreach community work across Ealing through its Trailfinders Ealing Foundation. It was also the first time the players sung carols in Ealing Broadway.

As well as the players, supporters of the team along with passers by took part in the Christmas song renditions and had an opportunity to talk to the players both before and after they performed.

Chair of Ealing Trailfinders Foundation, Trisha Stewart told EALING.NEWS the importance of outreach work the club does. “The players love engaging with our local community. And that’s what this has been about. We want everyone to get to know them and the work that the Foundation does.”

Ms Stewart added: “The men’s and women’s teams joined together this afternoon with great enthusiasm and song their hearts out in support of the Foundation.”

Ealing Broadway ward Councillor Julian Gallant, himself a professional musician joined in with the players. He told EALING.NEWS: “I was absolutely blown away by the quality of Trailfinders players. I have to say that singing and rugby are very much sort of combined. They do go together quite well.”

He added: “What’s really nice is to see them out. Not just on the rugby field, but actually here in Ealing Broadway and present to everyone. That’s really, really nice.”
