As Ealing Council continues with its commitment to improve safety for women across the borough and reduce male violence against women and girls (MVAWG), the council is now inviting residents to take part in a survey on what it should do next to address the issue.
The survey is open until 10 January 2024 and can be accessed on the Safer Ealing website and directly by clicking here.
In 2022, residents voiced their concerns over a number of safety issues that needed to be addressed which the council says it has already now improved street lighting across the borough as well as upgrading CCTV cameras.
In a previous survey of over 3000 women and girls over 13 93% said that improved lighting will make them feel safer.
The council says it has also developed a MVAWG education programme for young people and frontline staff across the borough but it wants to hear from residents on how the initiatives have been implemented and any other feedback.
Councillor Jasbir Anand, Ealing Council lead member for tackling inequality said: “Acts of violence and harassment, even when they may seem small, cause immeasurable damage to their victims, and to society more widely – making everyone less safe.”
Councillor Anand added: “We’re proud of the progress that has been made on this issue by the council in recent years. This new listening exercise will help us understand where concerns remain and how we can address them so women and girls can feel safe in our community.”
