Model UN trip to USA for Ealing Independent College students

Students from Ealing Independent College crossed the Atlantic to join hundreds of young people across the world attending the annual Model UN conference at the prestigious MIT university in Massachusetts.

The private college based in Ealing Broadway is one of just two UK schools to attend and has been taking part since 2018. At the USA conference, the students work together to represent a country, organisation or a person and are given a problem they must solve with other student delegates from around the world.

Among the skills learned and shared at the conference include public speaking, research and global knowledge to help young people understand world affairs.

Joining the six pupils was Ealing Independent College principal Allan Cairns.

Mr Cairns told EALING.NEWS: “The trip featured over 350 students from 33 different schools across four different continents, and students debating issues as wide ranging as the economics of water security, the Mediterranean refugee crisis, nuclear weapons containment and future space exploration.”
