Broadband and telecoms infrastructure provider Openreach has announced that more homes and businesses in areas across London including Acton, Ealing and Southall are next to be upgraded to benefit from full fibre high speed broadband.
Telephone exchanges in these towns will join with Greenford and Perivale who are part of Openreach’s goal to enable at least 75% of each exchange to be capable of offering full fibre.
Openreach says it is spending £15 billion across the UK to upgrade the broadband infrastructure.
Niraj Jassy, Openreach regional director for London said: “This is a huge infrastructure success story. No company is building faster or further in Europe, that we’re aware of. We won’t be stopping either. We plan to build even further across the region, to more cities and towns, and our most rural communities.
“And our engineers, of which more than 3,700 live in the region, are doing this at a rapid pace – despite this being a hugely complex engineering project.”
