Perceval House car park closes for General Election

Ealing Council’s car park behind its Perceval House building in Ealing Broadway will be closed between 20 June 2024 and 12 July 2024 so it be used as the counting centre for the 4 July 2024 General Election.

In a statement, the council said the temporary closure will allow it to construct and then take down the count centre for the election which sees three Ealing  constituencies – Ealing Central and Acton, Ealing North and Ealing Central  – choosing their next MP.

The three constituencies are currently held by Labour – Ealing Central and Acton by Dr Rupa Huq, Ealing North by James Murray and Ealing Southall by Virendra Sharma.

Mr Sharma stood down on 27 May 2024 and Ealing Council deputy leader Deirdre Costigan was chosen as his replacement.

Dr Huq has held Ealing Central and Action since 2015 and in 2019 she had a 13,300 majority over the Conservatives. James Murray has held Ealing North since 2019 where he had a 12,269 majority over the Conservatives. Virendra Sharma was MP for Ealing Southall since 2007 and in 2019 he had a 16,084 majority over the Conservatives.

As well as the Perceval House car park shutting for the election, a number of bays in nearby Longfield Avenue will also be  unavailable during this time.

Ealing Council has advised that other nearby council car parks will be open including Springbridge Road Car Park and Arden Road Car Park.
