Family owned and run Park Royal-based Dina Foods has been named Food & Drink sector winner in the Family Business Of The Year Awards 2024.
The awards celebrate the contribution family businesses make across the country and in their communities.
Dina Foods, which is now in its 32nd year, has made a name for itself supplying its Mediterranean food products and has also won other prestigious awards. Last year at the West London Business Awards, Dina Foods won two awards – High Growth SME and Food and Drink Business of the Year.
The baker and food manufacturer was recognised by the judges for its “unequivocal passion for the food they produce and their strong sense of community and family” in the hotly contested category.
The company says that family is at the heart of its business and as well as the three founding brothers and directors, Suheil, Fadi and Samir Haddad, Dina Foods next generation of family members is very involved.
Project manager Wilda Haddad, daughter and niece of the founding Haddad brothers said: “We are delighted to win this Award which recognises our commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship and the strong sense of community in our family business.”
Earlier this year, EALING.NEWS caught up with Wilda Haddad to find out more about what it means to be shortlisted for the Family Business of the Year Awards.
What is it like being shortlisted for the award?
Being shortlisted for these awards is a great honour and recognition for the Dina Foods family of their dedication and hard work over more than 33 years. It has taken an incredible amount of hard work to get to this place and the nomination shows that our peers recognise us as industry leaders. Everyone is absolutely delighted with this nomination.
What was 2023 like for you as a business? What successes did you have?
When we look back on 2023 we see it as a year of continued growth. We were thrilled to be awarded the Food and Drink Company of the Year and High Growth SME of the Year in the West London Business Awards in February continuing our track record of success in key industry awards. We were also successful in securing the annual renewal of our British Retail Consortium (BRC) food safety certificates, as well as achieving continued expansion of our breadth and depth of product distribution across major outlets such as Costco, Home Bargains, Farm Foods and Tesco. While it has been a challenging economic climate to operate in due to the continued erratic cost increases of key raw materials and energy, as well as a shortage of skilled labour, we have been bolstered by the company’s long-term strategic plan, resilience, standing and the experience of the Dina Foods team in consolidating our continued growth over the last year”.
What are you looking forward to in 2024?
We are hoping that 2024 will be a year of continued growth for the company and we are set to introduce new products to enhance our offering to consumers and customers alike. The team is already working on some innovative products which we hope to launch later this year.
