Improving conservation work at Grove Farm

Having recently been awarded funding from the Mayor of London’s Rewild London fund, The Friends of Grove Farm have revealed how it is being used to improve conservation work which will see expanding a woodland pond, managing meadows and enhancing woodland paths.

Anna Rebmann, a trustee for the local nature reserve in Greenford said: “This funding is a tremendous boost for Grove Farm. It will allow us to tap into expert knowledge to create a richer habitat for local wildlife. We’ve already begun comprehensive biodiversity surveys to deepen our understanding of the site’s ecosystem.”

According to Friends of Grove Farm, the surveys enable them to develop a conservation management plan which will also help with future improvements.

The group is also training volunteers to become bio-recorders which documents the wide range of species that call Grove Farm home and helps discover the wealth of wildlife in Ealing.

Locals are invited to become bio-recorders and will be provided with free training in the summer.

A crowdfunding campaign to raise £6503 has also been started to further its work which includes setting up a volunteer hub at Grove Farm for storing tools and equipment, creating a community garden and installing signage throughout the reserve.

Bharti Sadhu, a regular volunteer at Grove Farm said: “It is so lovely to have a beautiful place like Grove Farm in our borough. It is a great spot for anyone to enjoy nature, whether you are a family or simply want a nice place for your daily walk. The work that is planned will make it even better for the environment and our community.”
