Business is on the agenda for Southall

Entrepreneurs and businesses from Southall and its surrounding areas have attended the first ever Southall Business Expo which took place at the historical Southall Manor House.

The day, organised by Carlene Bender of Contact Us Ealing and supported by Ealing Council, was packed with networking opportunities and guidance on how to start a business and grow a business. Advice was on offer from a wide range of delegates covering all aspects of business operations from marketing through to legal and financial as well as hiring and training.

As well as more than 20 exhibitors, the event also saw attendees representing a wide range of businesses from high street specialised retailers and service providers through to multimedia production companies and from brand consultants through to software engineers.

Among the discussions on the day included sessions of why Southall is a good place to do business, how to use video to promote your business and ideas of running online businesses from home.

Lunch catering was provided by KKB Gopalis set up by local resident and entrepreneur Pali who has taken over the site of caterers and restaurant KKB Gopal at 2 Adelaide Road in Southall.

The event also saw local MP Virendra Sharma attending as well as the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha who represents the Dormers Wells ward in Southall.

During the day, delegates were also treated to a guided tour of Grade II* Listed Tudor building and also found out about plans for its future. A consultation with the public is being undertaken by Ealing Council and Meanwhile Space. Among the ideas is for Manor House becoming a hub for local businesses, artistic creatives, the community and entrepreneurs seeking space to work from.
