A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with two counts of misconduct in public office over the possession and sharing of CCTV images including the rape of a women who died in Southall Park in 2021.
PC Adam Aspinall Da Encarnacao, 32, who is attached to the West Area policing team which covers Ealing and its seven towns as well as Hillingdon and Hounslow is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday (12 August 2024).
PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao was arrested on 12 September 2022 and suspended from duty.
In a statement, Met Police said of the two charges of misconduct in public office: “These relate to inappropriately possessing and sharing CCTV images concerning the alleged rape of one woman and the rape of another. One of the women is Natalie Patricia Shotter, 37, who died in Southall Park on 17 July 2021.
“We have informed Natalie’s family of the charge against PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao and our thoughts and sympathies remain with them for their loss and for the impact this news will have. We have also informed the second woman.”
Mohamed Iidow, 34, of no fixed address, was charged on 21 December 2023 with the rape and manslaughter of Ms Shotter and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on 12 January 2024.
