Hanwell Town have been drawn away to Sheppey United in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round. The Ites won 3-0 against North Greenford United in the Preliminary Round to earn a tie against the Geordies.
Sheppey plays in the Isthmian League Southeast, Step 4 of non-league football and have started their season with two wins.
The match will take place on the weekend of August 31, 2024, and will see both sides look to create memories in the famous competition. Last season, Sheppey made it all the way to the first-round proper, where they lost 4-1 at home to Walsall.
Hanwell need to win two matches to reach the Third Qualifying Round and equal their best FA Cup run. The Geordies have reached the round three times, most recently in 2022/23. Last season, Chris Moore’s side lost 1-0 to Knaphill in the First Qualifying Round.
The 101-mile trip to Sheppey’s The Total Power Stadium will be one the higher-ranked Geordies expect to win. However, given Sheppey’s success in the cup last year, Chris Moore’s side will have to be at their best to advance.
Hanwell have started the season well, winning two of their three opening games. Before their trip to Sheppey, the Geordies will play Merthyr Town and Marlow in the Southern League Premier South.
