Ealing Council’s £200,000 a year new chief executive Tony Clements starts

Ealing Council has confirmed that its new chief executive, Tony Clements has started in his £200,000 a year role which reports directly to Ealing Council leader councillor Peter Mason.

It marks a return to Ealing for Mr Clements who previously worked for the council from 2018 to 2020 according to his LinkedIn profile and held two roles starting as executive director of regeneration and housing in April 2018 and then becoming executive director of place which he left in April 2020.

Since leaving Ealing Council, Mr Clements has worked for other organisations including Hammersmith and Fulham council where he was an interim strategic director for economy.

Mr Clements, replaces interim CEO Paul Martin who joined the council in February this year.

Mr Clements said: “I’m delighted to be joining Ealing Council as chief executive. Ealing is an amazing borough and a this is a council full of committed staff who, over the past couple of years, have gone the extra mile – and further – to serve our residents.”

He added: “I am looking forward to working with councillors to deliver their ambitious and exciting programme for the borough. I hope my recent work in understanding what builds successful communities will mean the council can deliver better and more meaningful engagement with people across the borough, and I very much look forward to working together with residents, partners and council staff to deliver the council’s exciting agenda.”

In a statement, council leader councillor Peter Mason said: “I warmly welcome Tony to Ealing Council. He brings energy and creativity to the borough, and I look forward to working with him to create an open and collaborative culture where we engage residents in shaping their neighbourhoods and involve them in the services the council delivers.”
