A dozen team members from West London NHS Trust and Ealing Community Partners have been formally recognised for the valuable contribution they played to the community during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.
At a special event held last Friday (29 July 2022) at Ealing Town Hall in Ealing Broadway, the Mayor welcomed the NHS staff and paid tribute to the work they do.
Councillor Mohinder Midha, Mayor of Ealing said: “I was delighted to host a reception for NHS staff to thank them for their contributions to the community, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic and the rollout of the vaccinations. To all NHS staff and volunteers that have been there for us throughout these unprecedented times, on behalf of the London Borough of Ealing, I thank you.”
Among those attending the event were a number of councillors as well as deputy leader of Ealing Council Deirdre Costigan and Dr Anna Bryden, Ealing director of Public Health.
Dr Christopher Hilton, director of Ealing Place Based Partnership, said: “I would like to thank the Council for acknowledging the hard work of our NHS staff, who have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic. During this time, there has been some outstanding collaboration between the local authority, and its contractors and volunteers with health services. I hope flexibility, innovation and compassion shown by our colleagues continues and together we form a lasting legacy for Ealing as we look forward to a brighter future.”
Among the NHS staff recognised were: Ealing Community Partners’, Dr Arjun Dhillon and Dr Graham Stretch for their work in care homes, Bianca Postelmans, representing children’s services, Bhekiwe Mngometulu and Christine Wendam representing intermediate care at Clayponds and the NHS Mary Robinson Unit, and Alexis Santiago representing community nursing.
Also present from West London NHS Trust were Linda Nazarko, who collected certificates on behalf of herself, Matthew Wilding and Elaine Smith for their work in physical healthcare and the borough vaccination centre, Lillian Hove for her work as a practice development nurse and advocate for BAME colleagues, Carlos Mendonza from the Ealing Facilities Team, and Doreen Kessie, who worked during the pandemic in Ealing Liaison Psychiatry service.
The reception also celebrated the work of colleagues from partner organisations supporting local people: Ealing Hospital, Children’s Universal Services, Primary Care and the coordinating services from the Ealing Borough Team of North West London Integrated Care Board.
