Brentside celebrates strong GCSE results for Class of 2025

Brentside High School in Hanwell is celebrating the achievements of its Year 11 students after a strong set of GCSE results, with more than four in ten pupils securing at least one top grade.

In total, the cohort achieved 396 grades at level 7–9, with a number of students securing between eight and 13 of the highest marks. Among those singled out for their achievements were Hayyan, who achieved eight grade 9s, Asha with six grade 9s, and Aiyana, who gained four grade 9s and five grade 8s.

The school said it was particularly proud of this year’s group, who were in their final year of primary school when the Covid pandemic struck in 2020, disrupting their education and cancelling their key stage 2 tests.

Headteacher Charlotte Hames praised the students’ resilience. She said: “We are immensely proud of our students’ individual achievements this year, and of the hard work, talent, and dedication they have shown throughout their journey. We are grateful to our parents and carers for their continued partnership, and to our staff team, whose guidance, support, and inspiration have been instrumental in helping our students flourish.”

Alongside individual results, Brentside pointed to strong performances across core subjects. Every student achieved grades 5–9 in physics, with three quarters at the top 7–9 band, while biology and chemistry also saw high success rates at 98% and 93% respectively. English, maths, history, French and Spanish were also highlighted as subjects with particularly strong outcomes.

Citizenship, studied by 123 students, was noted as a strength, with 66% securing a grade 5–9. The school said this reflected its commitment to “reinforcing British Values and enabling our students to understand and participate in the governance and politics of our country”.
