Ealing Council has said that the latest phase in the £100m regeneration of Hanwell’s Copley Close, Central Square, is now completed and welcoming residents to move in.
Developed by the council’s own housing company, Broadway Living, Central Square consists of 201 homes including 22 four-bedroom houses as well as 63 two-bedroom flats that will be available for council tenants.
The council says another 35 of the flats will be offered on an affordable rent basis at 20% below market rates to eligible households with 33 homes being made available on a shared ownership basis.
According to the council, 48 flats will be sold and the proceeds will be used to subsidise additional social housing it is planning across Ealing.
Of the 201 new homes, the council says 10% of them have been built to be accessible for wheelchair users.
Councillor Lauren Wall, cabinet member for genuinely affordable homes for Ealing Council said: “We know just how important good quality, affordable homes are to our residents’ life chances, and with thousands more waiting for council housing, there is still lots of work to be done. That’s why we are continuing to build homes to let all over the borough, offering more families the peace of mind that comes from living in an affordable, permanent home.”
As well as homes, Copley Close also had new open spaces including play areas and a community centre for residents will open in early 2023
Leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Peter Mason, said: “The fantastic new facilities at Copley will offer so many benefits for local people of all ages. Ealing already has some truly outstanding parks and green spaces, and having high-quality play and exercise equipment on their doorsteps will help the residents of the estate get together and have fun while staying active.”
