After 55 years, a much loved children’s playgroup in South Ealing will be closing on Friday (21 October 2022) as it couldn’t financially recover from the impact of the 2020 pandemic.
South Ealing Playgroup which is based at the Ealing Christadelphian Hall in Dorset Road, South Ealing had been running for over five decades and supported generations of families in the area.
The Playgroup is a charity and its parent volunteer committee has now set-up an online fundraising page and are holding a closing down sale on 12 November 2022 from 2pm-5pm to raise money and help close a financial gap to pay full redundancy for staff going.
Lara Correia, chair of the South Ealing Playgroup said: “it’s very sad that we have to close. Both my girls attended playgroup, the team created a wonderfully inclusive and safe environment for children to learn through play, become more independent and interact with others. Please donate generously to support the great staff.”
More than a dozen people have expressed their sadness on the fundraising page about the closing of South Ealing Playground.
One person said: “Thank you all so much for making our daughter’s time at playgroup so special. You’re an Ealing institution and will be missed. Wishing you all the very best.”
While another also expressed their support for the service that was offered. “To all staff at South Ealing Playgroup. So sorry to hear the sad news of it’s closure. The playground was a lifeline in Covid.”
