The London Fire Brigade has issued a fireworks warning following a garage going on fire at St Crispin’s Close in Southall last night (24 October 2022).
The fire is believed to have happened due to a firework.
As well as the garage being destroyed by the fire, two vehicles inside the garage were also damaged. No one was injured.
The Brigade was called at 10.30pm and the fire was under control by 00.08am. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Southall, Northolt, Heston and Wembley fire stations attended the scene.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “We encourage people to attend organised fireworks displays instead of using fireworks privately, but if you do choose to use fireworks, make sure you have enough space, buy them from a reputable, licensed seller and always look for a CE mark to make sure they’re safe. Never drink alcohol and set off fireworks and don’t throw fireworks or return to a firework once it has been lit.”
They added: “Remember that fireworks are explosives, and as such should be treated with respect and only used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the Firework Code.”
