Ealing Hospital has had its new £1m Cath lab officially opened by the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha. With the introduction of the new lab, Ealing residents will now be able to be seen much faster than having to be transferred to Harrow’s Northwick Park Hospital.
The new lab will be able to carry out up to 1,000 cardiac investigative procedures a year and aims to help patients suffering from heart problems.
Professor Stuart Rosen, consultant cardiologist at the Royal Brompton and Ealing Hospitals said: “Ealing has a history of pioneering work involving cardiology and this is a real asset to the community. It will help us provide equality of care across north-west London and ensure patients benefit from the latest treatments.”
The cath lab and heart related issues is important to the Mayor. This year, the Mayor’s chosen charity is HeartLink which provides advice and support to people living with heart conditions, especially those undergoing or recovering from hospital treatment.
