Ealing’s University of West London (UWL) is offering residents living in the borough free courses to help them with Maths and English. The courses are for aduults aged 19 and over and are aimed to help those who struggled with GCSE or never was able to take those subjects at school.
The Functional Skills Maths and English qualifications are widely accepted as an equivalent of grade C/4 at GCSE and can open doors for people and prepare them for success in accessing university degree courses or change of career.
Sara Raybould, senior pro vice-chancellor for student experience at UWL, said: “We’re proud to be able to offer such a great opportunity to the local community. People who struggled with Maths and English at school are often more limited in their educational and career choices.”
Ms Raybould added: “We want to help pave the way for people in the local community to access a wider range of prospects.”
