Two brothers have been convicted of two counts of attempted murder after a stabbing and double shooting that took place in 2021 on Standard Road in Park Royal.
Jahni Thomas, 28 and Jahmarley Thomas, 24 who are both from Brent, were also convicted after a trial at Isleworth Crown Court of one count of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and one count of possession of point and blade.
The brothers were remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 3 March 2023.
On 6 November 2021 around 5.30am, police were called to reports of a stabbing and shots fired on Standard Road, NW10.
Police, including firearms officers, and the London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended the scene and found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest and a stab wound to the back. He was taken by LAS to hospital where his injuries, although initially serious, were deemed not life threatening following treatment.
Another man, aged 31, also sustained a gunshot wound to his hand and was taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Jahmarley and Jahni Thomas had used a stolen vehicle on cloned number plates. Police were able to track the vehicle on CCTV for over three hours and 27 miles as it drove around North West London.
The CCTV enquiries discovered that two hours before the attack, the Thomas’ attended Standard Road, NW10, to familiarise themselves with the area and to make sure that their target was present.
The brothers returned two hours later where waited for their victim to leave a nightclub.
The brothers ambushed their victim from behind stabbing him once and shooting him in the left shoulder. The gunman then ran to a second male who was attempting to take cover in a vehicle.
The gunman opened the car door and at point blank range fired the gun a second time.
The second victim raised his left hand to protect himself. The bullet went through the victims hand and jacket that was wrapped around his hand and hit the victim in the chest, causing a bruise on his chest. After the shooting the Thomas’ drove back to their home address and later moved the vehicle to Springfield Gardens NW9 where it was burned out.
Detective Constable Tom Harris of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “The Thomas’ set out to murder their victims and it was pure luck that this wasn’t a murder investigation. The level of planning and premeditation leading to this extremely violent attack shows a complete disregard for the safety of any bystanders who may have been in the area at the time of the shootings. I am pleased that the appropriate verdict has been found and that they will face sentence for their actions.”
