Ealing Council services over Christmas and New Year

During the festive season and over Christmas and New Year, Ealing Council has advised Ealing residents to be aware of the changes that are happening for a number of services including rubbish collections in Ealing, parking in Ealing, library services as well as how to contact the council for help.

Refuse and recycling
Rubbish and recycling collection days will change over the holiday period. Ealing rubbish and refuse collections will return to normal on 16 January 2023.

The council’s re-use and recycling centre will be open as usual from 8am-4pm, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Residents will also be able to report any isuses regarding rubbish in Ealing via report it or use the love clean streets app.

Christmas Trees
The council will also be collecting Christmas trees to be recycled and has provided guidance to residents on the process. The service only applies to real tress and not artificial ones.

It said: “You can also recycle your Christmas tree in a quick, easy and environmentally friendly way, by leaving it out as part of your kerbside rubbish and recycling collections, or by dropping it off at a local park or reuse and recycle centre.”

Ealing Council added: “Until 29 January 2023, you can leave your tree on the front edge of your property, to have it taken away for recycling. Trees will be collected on the same day as your refuse collection (black bin) each alternate week. Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter or be more than six feet tall (taller trees can be cut in two) and please ensure all decorations are removed.”

The following Council services are available 24/7 for emergencies only:

Automated parking payments line: 020 8825 6565
For urgent parking enforcement requests: call 020 8825 6677, option 1 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm only – 020 8825 5000 outside of these hours).
Services for homeless people and their families or those threatened with home loss: 020 8825 5000.
Children and adults’ social care: 020 8825 8000.
Tenants requiring emergency housing repairs: 020 8825 5682 or 0800 181744.
The noise response team who deal with noise nuisance complaints will be operating in limited capacity. The Council says there will be no service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or late New Year’s Eve and into New Year’s Day. There will be varying hours on other days. Call 020 8825 8111.

The Council’s sports and leisure centres will be open at different hours over Christmas. More details can be found here.

Libraries
Most libraries will close at 4pm on 24 December 2022 and reopen at 9am on 3 January 2023.  The Council says Libraries will also be open on 31 December 2022 but to check on the library pages of its webite for more details.

The 24/7 online library service will be available for residents to renew books as well as manage their accounts.

Parking
All council car parks and pay and display bays will offer free parking on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, as well as 27 December 2022 and 2 January 2022 (because Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays). Visitor parking in resident bays within controlled parking zones (CPZs) will also be free on those days. Normal parking restrictions will apply on all other days.

Apart from Christmas Day, the Council is reminding motorists that bus lanes, loading bays and parking in other places where parking is prohibited remain in operation throughout the festive period. The parking services office will be closed from 5pm on 23 December 2022 and will re-open at 9am on 3 January 2023.
