21-year-old woman denies murdering her mother in Acton by reason of diminished responsibility

A 21-year-old woman has been accused of the death of her mother by stabbing her more than 30 times in Acton last August.

Hanna Bennis, 21, has been charged with the death of Aziza Bennis, 58, who was found at a home in Boddington Gardens with multiple stab wounds.

On Monday (16 January 2023), at the Old Bailey, her daughter denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

Police were called to Boddington Gardens at 3:37pm on 15 August 2022 following reports of a disturbance and found the school dinner lady who worked at Ark Acton Academy with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination found the cause of her death to be multiple stab injuries.

The defendant faces a two-week trial starting 31 July 2023.
