Veganuary comes to Ealing’s Wagamama

Since 1992, Wagamama has been serving up a range of noodle and rice delights inspired by the Far East and since 2013, it has had a branch based in Ealing Broadway.

With Veganuary being on the calendar throughout the month of January, EALING.NEWS paid a lunchtime visit to discover some of the vegan delights on the Wagamama menu.

Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient throughout lunch.

My dining companion and I started with drinks and went for the very freshly prepared carrot cleanse (£5) which is a blend of carrot and ginger.

Our three vegan starters were yasai gyoza (£6.80), bang bang cauliflower (£5.80) and sticky vegan ‘ribs’ (£7.20)

The gyoza were a delight and tasty. The bang bang cauliflower was spicy and seems to combine sweetness with spice. The sticky vegan ‘ribs” were also a spicy delight and replicated that “meaty” texture.

Our main dishes were vegan ‘chicken’ kare lomen (£13) and no-duck donburi (£13.50)

The kare lomen which features udon noodles in a coconut broth topped with the vegan teriyaki ‘chicken’. It tasted just like chicken being crispy. The no-duck donburi was exactly that. A bowl of brown rice with what tasted like duck. It worked really well.

Presentation for both mains looked great and each one on its one can also be shared by two as the portion size is pretty large.

Wagamama is a national institution and the Ealing Broadway branch keeps up the high standards and great food quality that has seen the restaurant chain constantly remain popular for the past 31 years.
