Ealing Project launches weekly Wednesday matinees for over 60s in partnership with Age UK Ealing

Ealing Project, the cinema and arts venue launched last summer in Ealing Broadway, is to hold weekly matinee Silver Screenings for those over the age of 60 who want to visit the cinema, meet or make new friends and get a good deal at the box office.

The special screenings, which are £5.50, will take place each Wednesday morning in partnership with Age UK Ealing. Cinemagoers will get a ticket to a film along with choice of hot drink and biscuits.

The first film to be shown this Wednesday (22 February 2023) will be Steven’s Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical The Fablemans which tells the story of
a young American aspiring filmmaker and his family in post-WWII Arizona.

Andrew Carruthers, general manager of Ealing Project said: “We are very excited to be launching the Silver Screening series at Ealing Project. We know older audiences have had a particularly hard time over recent years, unable to socialise with friends and family, and being impacted by the cost of living crisis. The Silver Screening series allows them to have a regular space to meet with friends, as well as experience everything our cinema has to offer. We are delighted to be partnering with Age UK Ealing on such an important initiative for the older generation in the borough.’’

Reginald Parkinson, CEO of Age UK Ealing added: “As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to be partnering with Ealing Project on their Silver Screening Series. We are often looking for new and innovative ways for our clients to get together in a social environment, and this initiative provides a space for older people in the community to come together and enjoy a range of fantastic films on a weekly basis.”
