Man arrested after two people stabbed at Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal

Armed police have attended a stabbing at Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal this afternoon (21 June 2023) in which one man has been arrested and two people are being treated by medics.

The first victim has injuries that are being treated as life-threatening while the second victim’s injuries are not being treated as life-threatening.

Police responded along with other emergency services after calls at 1:18pm to reports that two people had been stabbed at the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) hospital in Acton Lane.

Police arrested a man outside the hospital who has also been sent to hospital having received injuries that are believed to be self-inflicted. His condition is being treated as life-threatening.

Officers will remain in the hospital as further searches are conducted but at this time they say they are not looking for any other suspects.

At this time the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

The hospital was temporarily locked down but has now re-opened and will be operating services as normal.

Announcing the reopening following the incident, LNWH said: “We’re now letting people back into Central Middlesex Hospital following advice from Met Police and Brent Police. While our clinics are reopening, we may need to reschedule your appointment if we can’t see you today.”

Earlier, in a statement on Twitter from the Trust which runs the hospital in Acton Lane, they confirmed there is an “ongoing incident”.

The statement said: “There’s an ongoing incident at Central Middlesex Hospital. Please follow any instructions given to you by the police”.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (21 June) at 1:18pm to reports of an incident at Central Middlesex Hospital. We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic, two ambulance crews, a medic in a fast response car, and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).”

They added: “We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. Our teams treated three people at the scene and took them to hospital.”

On hearing the news, Brent Central MP Dawn Butler tweeted: “Sorry to hear about the incidents in Central Middlesex Hospital. The police have acted quickly and I understand the person responsible has been arrested.”
