A week left for Questors to raise £100,000 through a crowdfunding campaign for new roof in its Judi Dench Playhouse

A crowdfunding campaign to raise £100,000 by September 7 2022 for a new roof for Ealing’s popular The Questors theatre is now (1 September 2022) nearly a third of the way to reaching its goal as legendary British actress Dame Judi Dench is urging theatre lovers to help.

It has so far raised £30,881 from 347 supporters.

The stage and screen actress is also the president of The Questors theatre in Matlock Lane, central Ealing and its Judi Dench Playhouse which was built in 1964 and named after her in 2014, is now needing a new roof following years of damage caused by water and has come to the end of its natural life.

A new roof will ensure the theatre will continue to thrive for many more years to come by providing better heating and sound insulation as well as being backed by a 20 yearf guarantee.

Dame Judi said: “I warmly support The Questors Crowdfunder to raise funds towards the cost of replacing the roof of the Playhouse that bears my name. I hope you will also agree that securing the future of the Playhouse is very important and donate what you can. In this way, we can ensure that The Questors continues to develop creative artists and provide theatre of an excellent standard to the community.”

Chair of The Questors, Doug King added: “The Questors provides an extraordinary range of opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in creative activity, and to see the fruits of their work on stage in our acclaimed Playhouse. Replacing the leaking roof this year is essential for the future of the Playhouse. Your help via the Crowdfunder will speed along meeting the costs of the roof replacement – and therefore also bring forward the planned follow on steps for refurbishing the interior of the Playhouse, including the replacement of the seating and improvements to access.”
