ActOne Cinema set for a summer of blockbusters in Acton

Acton’s independent community cinema, ActOne is set for a bumper summer with a series of blockbusters as well as special screenings of movies for film buffs of all ages.

From now until 20 July 2023, current blockbusters Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny along with Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City are being screened.

Oppenheimer and Barbie will both be showing from 21 July 2023.  On 25 July 2023, the cinema will also have a special screening of Barbie for carers and babies at 11.30am. Tickets can be booked here.

Earlier this year, ActOne had a sell-our run of Vermeer – The Greatest Exhibition and is bringing it back later this month. Produced by Exhibition on Screen, which brings exhibition-based art films to the cinema, the film offers audiences a private view of the exhibition with the director of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum and the curator of the show. Screenings take place on 18 July and 20 July 2023 and can be booked here.

On 16 August 2023, ActOne will also be hosting a special screening of the 1971 classic film The Go Between starring Julie Christie, Alan Bates and Edward Fox. Directed by Joseph Losey and with a screenplay by Harold Pinter. The screening is linked to the Chiswick Book Festival which takes place in September 2023. Pinter himself was a resident of Chiswick for many years. The film will be preceded by a Q&A between drama critic Michael Billington and Torin Douglas, director of the book festival.
