ActOne film screening and community appeal to help Acton’s Victor Masha finance living expenses for his New York acting school scholarship

An aspiring actor from Acton who has gone to New York on a scholarship to pursue his dream is back in London and hosting a free screening on 3 August 2023 at ActOne Cinema of BANDO, a film made by young people from Bollo Brook Youth Centre.

Victor Masha was offered a scholarship and is studying at the prestigious Juilliard School of Drama in New York. Thanks to a crowdfunding campaign last year he was able to raise finance to support living expenses not covered by the scholarship.

As Victor is about to embark on his second year of studies, he is needing to raise £10,000 to cover his 2023/24 living expenses and has continued with a crowdfunding campaign to help:

He added of BANDO, to be screened on 3 August 2023 at 6.45pm: “This beautifully-shot short film was made by the Bollo Brook Youth Centre. BANDO was picked up and shown at the renowned TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood as part of a film festival.”

The film sees four teenage boys who are looking for a place to hang out and away from the streets discover an abandoned flat and the issues that develop later on.

Victor added: “There will be a Q&A discussion after the short film, with myself and Aaron Adrian Rogers who filmed ‘Bando’ and worked on the Game of Thrones prequel House of Dragon. I think I am able to say that our event promises to be an enchanting evening filled with compassion, inspiration, and joy. Entrance to see the film is free. Donations on the evening will be gratefully received and truly appreciated.”

Details for the event are as follows:

Date: Thursday 3rd August 2023
Time: 6:45pm – 8:15pm
