Ealing’s Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust which oversees the strategy of its namesake manor and gallery has added for the first time ever a Lib Dem councillor to its board of trustees.
Since becoming the opposition party in Ealing following May 2022 local elections, Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust will now have Councillor Jon Ball as a trustee.
Councillor Ball, who represents Ealing Common ward, is one of two trustees nominated by Ealing Council. The other being Walpole ward Councillor Gareth Shaw of the ruling Labour party.
Councillor Ball said: “I look forward to playing my part as a trustee on the Pitzhanger board.”
A spokeswoman for Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust told EALING.NEWS: “Two of the trustees are councillors nominated by Ealing Council. Traditionally one has represented the party in power and the second the opposition. This is the first time in Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust (PMGT) history that the opposition has been Lib Dem. So, Jon Ball is the first nominated councillor to represent the Lib Dem’s on the Board. The other councillor on the Board is Gareth Shaw, a Labour Party councillor.”
The spokeswoman added: “The trustees play a non-executive role, overseeing the strategy of Pitzhanger. The Councillor trustees provide a valuable link between Pitzhanger and it’s crucial stakeholder, Ealing Council.”
Director of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, Clare Gough said: “We are delighted to welcome Councillor Jon Ball to the Board and we very much look forward to working with him!”
Previous councillors who have been trustees of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery included former Leader of the council and Labour leader Julian Bell and former Conservative Northfield ward councillor David Millican.
