New bursary to help young budding filmmakers launched by Ealing Film Festival

Young filmmakers aged between 18 and 25-years old are being offered the chance to get a free place at the prestigious MetFilm school in Ealing for a one month introduction to film making course. The course, which costs £2,400, is being offered through a bursary with support from The McGrath Charitable Trust and MetFilm School.

“The Trust is delighted and proud to support the Ealing Film Festival with a bursary of a film making course at the internationally renowned MetFilm School, based in Ealing,” said Kevin McGrath from The McGrath Charitable Trust. “This bursary will give the recipient a significant step forward in the development of their career in the film industry. We are delighted to provide support to young people with talent and drive to allow them to progress in their chosen vocation.”

The closing date to apply for the bursary is 31 October 2022 and the winner will be announced in December at the 2022 Ealing Film Festival.  The lucky recipient of the bursary will also get their film screened at the 2023 Ealing Film Festival.

Peter Gould, one of the festival directors, added: “We started Ealing Film Festival because we wanted to shine a spotlight on new talent. There are some great new filmmakers out there, just waiting to be discovered. This bursary will help to find them and enable them to realise their potential.”

Since launching in 2020, the Ealing Film Festival has made its mark on the internal film calendar with much interest from new filmmakers across the world with more than 600 hundred entries being submitted.

To apply, filmmakers will need to say why they are applying for the bursary in a written submission of no more than five hundred words and can also support a one-minute video with their application.  Applications should be sent to: info@ealingfilmfestival.com
