In April 2023, EALING.NEWS met Tarek Mrad who lives in supported living in Southall. Tarek, 25, moved to Southall from Hounslow last year and while he was living in Hounslow was nominated for BBC London Make A Difference Hero on how he helps others.
In his spare time, Tarek also enjoys writing and has shared his latest poem.
Disability is not something to joke about.
No matter what pain we go through, it’s something to talk about.
Let’s be kind to each other
We must teach one another
Even though it’s not what we’re used to
We should wear masks to protect me and you
Let’s find the power to live and keep going
I must keep being genuine and outgoing
In order to survive and save lives
We must stay safe, stay indoors, and we will thrive
In order to promote positivity
We must use the power within us, and connectivity
Teamwork is the key
To respect and uphold our community
