As part of Christian Aid Week 2023 which runs from 14 May to 20 May, St Stephen’s Church in West Ealing is holding a concert on 21 May with Coro West London to raise money for farming communities recovering from Malawi’s Cyclone Freddy.
Concert organiser Sue Charlton, said “Come and enjoy an afternoon of wonderful music at St Stephen’s, with tea and cakes. The choir will sing acapella, directed by Helen Vickery, a professional musician and past choir director at St. Stephen’s.”
The chamber choir, Coro West London, is conducted by Helen Vickery who will perform classical music from all eras including Viva La Musica (Michael Praetorius), Ave Verum Corpus (Ben Parry), Ave Maris Stella (Grieg), Faire is the Heaven (William Harris); God is Gone Up (William Croft); Jubilate Deo (G Gabrieli); 4 Folk Songs (Traditional), I carry your heart (Toby Young) and finish with God Save the King (arranged Paul Ayres).
Ms Charlton added: “All proceeds will be for the work of Christian Aid, to help make a real difference for our global neighbours. After the damage caused by Cyclone Freddy, the need for assistance is greater than ever. We decided to host the concert because it’s a lovely way to share what we enjoy with others and to give hope to those in desperate need throughout the world.”
The concert is on 21 May 2023 at 3pm in St Stephen’s Church, St Stephen’s Road, Ealing W13 8HB, followed by tea and cakes. Admission is free, with donations welcomed for Christian Aid.
