The Vampirettes rock Ealing Blues Festival warm-up gig

If the pre-event launch for this year’s Ealing Blues Festival which takes place on July 23-24 2022 is anything to go by, the festival is going to be this year’s hottest ticket in Ealing.

Last night (17 July 2022) saw all-female band The Vampirettes along with Robert Hokum and the Great West Groove take to the stage at The Brentham Club in Pitshanger to perform in front of a sell out audience keen to see The Vampirettes rock until the drop.

“The Vampirettes really raised the temperature with their unique blend of hard rock, high camp and raucous entertainment,” said Robert Hokum, the founder and artistic director of the Ealing Blues Festival.  “The weather made it pretty hot for a warm-up but we had a great night at the Brentham Club. Fortunately, the weather forecast suggests that conditions will be ideal for the festival next Saturday and Sunday.”

The gig last night was a preview of more material the all-female band will be performing when they take to the stage on 23-24 July in Walpole Park along with more than 20 other bands and artists performing over two days at the Ealing Blues Festival.

Among the highlights of the festival include a tribute to Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies and the birth of British blues in Ealing on 17 March 1962 To mark Rock’s Diamond Year. There will also be a rare London appearance by guitar player and Game of Thrones actor Wilko Johnson, who first came to prominence with Dr Feelgood, the R&B band he co-founded with former Ealing resident Lee Brilleaux who died in 1994.
