The Who, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Dusty Springfield and more are now being shown in Ealing Broadway exhibition highlighting Ealing’s musical heritage

Rock fans from London, the UK and around the world are flocking to a new exhibition in Ealing Broadway which opened last month and is running until summer 2023.

To help celebrate the diamond year of British rock music, Ealing Broadway has introduced the Rock ‘n’ Roll Alley, a display installation from The Ealing Club.

The exhibition, includes performers who have connections to Ealing including The Who, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, Dusty Springfield and more, is located inside Ealing Broadway on the ground floor next to the centre’s Ride&Park facility in St. Saviour’s Walk via Town Square. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Alley captures key moments of rock culture to help people learn more on West London’s rich musical heritage.

Rock fans will be able to discover more about The Ealing Club which started in 1962 ans was originally located in a basement across the road from Ealing Broadway’s train station.

Over the years, The Ealing Club along with Ealing as a town became the place to be for performers to gig as well as to be a base to form bands and rehearse.

Screenings of a new documentary film, Suburban Steps to Rockland – The Story of The Ealing Club, are also taking place at the nearby Ealing Project cinema. The film looks at the 1960s Ealing music scene and explores the history of the Ealing Club.

Ealing Broadway centre director Andrew Rollings said he couldn’t be more pleased to host the exhibition. “Ealing has such a rich musical background and the new documentary screening at The Ealing Project can be enjoyed by locals and visitors from wider London alike.”

Alistair Young at the Ealing Club CIC said: “We hope that by displaying Ealing’s abundant rock ‘n’ roll history, we can help pave the way for new generations to follow their musical ambitions. As with Liverpool, Nashville and New Orleans, Ealing has a range of musical connections and visitors can scan the QR code on the display to access The Ealing Club’s CIC website, which has more information on gigs taking place in the area.”
