Ealing Business Expo holding International Women’s Day panel

Celebrity chef, cookbook author and co-owner of the world renowned Brilliant Restaurant in Southall, Dipna Anand, is one of the panellists who will be taking part in a International Women’s Day (IWD) panel at todsay’s (8 March 2023) Ealing Business Expo.

As well as her restaurant in Southall, Ms Anand has a second restaurant Dipna Anand at Somerset House in central London.

The Expo, it’s ninth, organised by Carlene Bender from Contact Us Ealing will be the largest in its history and is expected to attract hundreds of entrepreneurs and businesses of all shapes and sizes in Ealing when it takes place at University of West London (UWL).

Ms Bender told EALING.NEWS about the IWD panel at the Expo. She explained: “For the past two years, Ealing Business Expo has taken place on 8 March, which is International Women’s Day. Last year we had a really good group discussion on the day, so this year we decided to make it one of the main features of the Expo.”

“It helps to have someone with a profile like Dipna Anand on the panel, as an Ealing-based chef, author and entrepreneur, a woman leading her own brand and her own business. She shows us every day, especially on her social media @dipnaanand, even among the celebrities and the hot kitchens and the long hours, what female leadership is all about.

“The theme for this year’s IWD is Embrace Equity, so we will be talking about what equity means  and how we can apply it in all our businesses.”

Ms Anand has a strong connection to University of West London as Ms Bender explained: “Dipna did her Masters in Hospitality and Catering at UWL, where she also taught a course in Indian cooking, so it will be good to welcome her back to the University, maybe she herself will make some useful new connections, or reconnections, at the Expo!”

As well as Ms Anand other members of the IWD panel will be Denitsa Minkova, financial adviser at Denitsa Minkova Wealth Management, who is also exhibiting at the Expo; and Amelia Au-Yeung, dean of the Claude Littner Business School at UWL.

This year’s Ealing Business Expo has become the talk of Ealing. Last month, The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha personally told businesses across the borough to get involved.

The Mayor said of Ealing Business Expo 2023: “Save the date and take part by being an exhibitor or visitor. Let’s make Ealing the best borough for business.”

Ms Bender said it’s also a return to University of West London for the Expo: “We are happy to be partnering with University of West London to bring the Ealing Business Expo event back for another year. Expo 2023 will be the ninth edition of this much-loved local event, which was first held here in Ealing in 2015.”

Ms Bender gave a sneak preview of their plans: “Attendees can look forward to the change of venue, with lots of new experiences and access to a fresh pool of contacts at our local university”.

Early exhibitors who booked will also be invited to a VIP Regional Business Brunch Reception provided by the University fine dining Pillars Restaurant.

Ms Bender added: “Attendees will also be able to register and test out some the expert facilities UWL have on offer and attend a range of business development sessions designed to help the local business community thrive, with topics including business scale-up support, funding opportunities, supporting pre-startups and more.”
