Monty’s founder Mahanta Shrestha receives OBE from King Charles III at Buckingham Palace

Mahanta Shrestha, the founder of Nepalese restaurant Monty’s in Ealing Broadway has received his Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal from King Charles III at an investiture ceremony in Buckingham Palace.

Mr Shrestha OBE, 73, was recognised for services to the London Borough of Ealing and to the Nepalese Community in the 2023 New Years Honours.

As well as running the renowned Nepalese restaurant, Mr Shrestha has also launched the popular Khukuri Beer.

Mr Shrestha OBE gave thanks to all those around him for his honours award. He said: “It was a great privilege to receive the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) insignia from HRH King Charles III for services to the London Borough of Ealing and to the Nepalese Community.”

The restaurateur added: “Thank you to all those who worked hard to create a welcoming atmosphere at Buckingham Palace. The award of the OBE represents the service and commitment of everyone I work with. To my family, friends, and all those who have been a part of my journey of public service, thank you for your support and kindness.”
