Specsavers Ealing Broadway marks 30 years with store revamp

Ealing Broadway shoppers were treated to the sound of steel drums last weekend as Specsavers celebrated three decades in the town with the reopening of its newly refurbished store.

The optician, which first opened in 1994, has undergone a £70,000 facelift featuring updated interiors, back-lit displays and expanded ranges of frames. More than 1,000 styles are now available, from budget options to designer brands including Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and Elton John Eyewear.

Dame Mary Perkins, co-founder of Specsavers, joined the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, to cut the ribbon on the refitted store. The event, complete with the True Steel Band performing outside, drew a steady stream of onlookers and customers.

Store director Kam Gohil, who has worked with Specsavers for much of his career, said the anniversary reflected the shop’s place in the local community. He said: “It’s been amazing to be part of Ealing for 30 years. We’re grateful for the loyalty of our customers and excited to welcome them into the new-look store.”

The branch now offers Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans – hospital-grade imaging that can detect eye conditions such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy earlier than standard tests – alongside a full audiology service.

Retail director Neina Vadher, who has been with the store for 18 years, said the revamp was “an investment in the future” of local eye and hearing care.
