Waitrose to build homes to rent above its West Ealing supermarket

West Ealing’s Waitrose is set to be developed into one of the first locations to offer homes to rent from parent organisation John Lewis Partnership as part of a plan to develop 10,000 homes over the next 10 years with many of these homes to be built above the popular supermarket premises.

According to John Lewis Partnership, the homes will be built on top of the existing supermarket that is located next to West Ealing station and promises to offer a quality housing experience for all family sizes.

Over the coming months, John Lewis says it will be inviting people to comment during a public consultation before submitting plans in 2023 to Ealing Council.

“Everything people love about our brand – quality, trust and service – we want to bring to the experience of renting a home with us. Our role as developer and operator, as well as an already established local business and employer, signals our ambition to bring long-term value to each of these communities,” said Nina Bhatia, executive director for strategy and commercial development at the John Lewis Partnership. “Helping to create homes has always been at the heart of what we do and we now have a unique opportunity to use our expertise and skills in new ways to deliver much-needed new housing.”

According to John Lewis, those looking to rent will have a choice of both short term and long term options as well as having the homes furnished by John Lewis.
