Pupils along with adults from Acton’s Derwentwater Primary School community met up last Sunday (23 March 2025) at Acton Park to take part in the first Derwentwater School Association (DSA) and Kids for the Climate organised litterpick.
With help from LAGER Can, who provided equipment and training for the event, 31 bags containing 26kgs of rubbish was collected from the park.
Kids for the Climate, a new eco-club set up by Derwentwater Primary School pupils is led by Year 6 teacher Ms Badau and helps children develop skills in leadership, project planning and presentation.
Tricia Howey, DSA secretary said: “Derwentwater children are always eager to engage with the community. They are full of ideas and motivation and love to see their families involved.”
Ms Howey added: “The DSA is on hand to support that and ensure our school continues to thrive. We are very proud of the children and how they showed up to support our community.”
