Local business owners and residents in the dark and concerned about “active crime scene” in North Acton going on for more than a week

Local businesses and residents in North Acton have raised concerns that an area in Park Royal at the Acton Business Centre in St Leonard’s Road/School Road remains cordoned off after 11 days as an “active crime scene” with 24 hour police supervision.

According to businesses based at Acton Business Centre, rumours are going around about what is going on since police arrived August 17 2022. They say they would like some reassurance which they claim authorities have not provided and fear it could go on for many more weeks.

One business owner told EALING.NEWS: “This has been going on now for 11 days. It could be anything there.  Drugs, dangerous chemicals, anything. The police have been here non-stop but are telling us nothing and everyone is worried. It’s disrupting business and making people frightened to come here and there’s no indication how long this will go on for.”

Another worker near to the cordon said: “It’s been pretty quiet here over the summer so really surprised to see this. There was talk that someone was making counterfeit alcohol but why would the police have it cordoned off for so long and not tell us what is going on.”

According to Capital Industrial, Acton Business Centre is described as “a vibrant multi-let industrial estate located in School Road, NW10. Containing a variety of light industrial units ranging in size from 100 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft with parking available. The estate also benefits from a separate office building offering a range of studio space.”

A video on YouTube was uploaded on 25 August 2022 showing what appears to be a police investigation. But despite this, local residents and businesses have yet to be officially told what is going on.

A local resident told EALING.NEWS: “This area is part of my daily walk. It’s been like this for well over a week and no one is saying anything.  I assume whatever it is, is all under control but why is the area still cordoned off and police still outside and around the area.”

She added: “At first, I thought it was being used for a film set but there was talk that someone was using one of those business units for making something illicit.”

Police have yet to issue an official statement on what is going on. When EALING.NEWS spoke to an officer, they could only confirm that “an active crime scene” was still in operation and could not comment any further.
