Police appeal for help to identify man in connection to religiously-aggravated assault on woman wearing hijab

Police are appealing for help to identify a man in connection with a religiously-aggravated assault to a woman on board a 207 bus who was wearing a hijab.

On 27 November 2022 at around 10.30pm, a woman was on a 207 bus from Westfield Shopping Centre in White City when she was approached by a man who started speaking to her.

The woman, in her 40s, was wearing a hijab and said that she didn’t want to engage with the man. He ignored her request and proceeded to make unwanted comments before assaulting her. The woman did not require hospital treatment.

The man got off the bus on Uxbridge Road close to Ealing Town Hall.

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command have carried out a number of enquiries, including a review of CCTV from the bus. They are now appealing for the public’s help to identify the suspect.

Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1753/27Nov22. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
