Police arrest man for attempted murder after woman hit by a driven vehicle in Southall

Metropolitan Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for attempted murder after a women was critically injured after being hit by a driven vehicle in Southall just after midnight on 9 May 2024.

Following an appeal for help to confirm the women’s identity, officers say they know who she is.

Officers were called to Healum Avenue junction with Merrick Road, Southall on 9 May 2024 at 00:12am and discovered an Asian woman in her 20s seriously injured.

Police say the driver of the vehicle involved had left and the woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

On 10 May 2024 officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves said: “Though an arrest has been made, we still need to hear from anyone who might have seen events leading up to and at the time of the collision.”

DS Reeves added: “The woman was dressed in light coloured bottoms, light coloured top and wearing sandals. If you saw her around the area please contact us, especially if you have dash or doorbell camera footage – it could prove vital for us.”
