Southall man charged as part of crime group involved in smuggling people to the UK

Four people including a 39-year-old man from Southall have been charged as part of a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into a crime group said to be involved in smuggling people to the UK using small boats.

Pistiwan Jameel, 53, of Old Oscott Lane in Birmingham, and Clare Meekings, 52 of the same address, were both arrested by NCA officers in Birmingham have been charged with conspiring to facilitate illegal immigration.

Artan Halilaj, 39, of Crosslands Avenue in Southall, was arrested in Hounslow on Monday and charged with the same offence.

Fiorentino Halilaj, 25, of no fixed abode has been charged with conspiring to facilitate illegal immigration.
