Three men charged with robbery after parcels stolen from delivery van in Southall

Police have charged three men with robbery after parcels were stolen from a delivery van in Southall on Thursday (7 December 2023)

In the run up to Christmas, Metropolitan Police have said there has been an increase in reports of robberies involving delivery vans.

In a dedicated police operation, officers have been working to identity and arrest those involved which saw on 7 December 2023, at around 9.40am, police arresting three men.

According to the Met, three men including one said to be armed with a crowbar, threatened a delivery driver before taking parcels from his can.

In total 10 parcels worth £5,000 were recovered by the police.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather, from the Met’s Flying Squad said: “We have seen an increase in reports of robberies involving delivery vans over the past few weeks and some of these have resulted in drivers being assaulted. Robbery always has a significant impact on victims, but especially so in the run up to Christmas, when so many people are making online orders.

“I am pleased we have been able to arrest and charge three people as part of our dedicated operation and we will continue to work proactively to identify offenders.”

Police are asking if anyone who notices any suspicious activity involving delivery vans, or has information about offences, to call 101 and to dial 999 in an emergency.

Information can also be shared anonymously with the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.h
