By-elections set for three Ealing Council wards in October

Following the General Election in July in which three Ealing councillors won seats in Parliament, the wards they represented of South Acton, Northolt Manderville and Hanger Hill will now see by-elections for new councillors on 10 October 2024. 

Newly elected Labour MP for Buckingham & Bletchley Callum Anderson was previously a councillor for South Acton, Northolt Mandeville Labour councillor Deirdre Costigan won Ealing Southall while Conservative Gregory Stafford who represented the Hanger Hill ward became MP for Farnham & Bordon.

While the election is on 10 October, anyone who wishes to stand as a candidate either through a political party or as an independent to contest each of the three wards will need to apply by 13 September 2024 at 4pm.

Ealing Liberal Democrats have also revealed that Jonathan Oxley will be its candidate for Hanger Hill. Mr Hill said: “If elected I will look to improve the lighting in the Mock Tudors, reduce begging on the gyratory and tackle drug dealing in Hanger Hill by working with the local police.”

Ealing Green Party has also announced its candidates who will be standing for election – Andrew Walkley (South Acton) Natalia Kubica (Northolt Mandeville) and Kate Crossland (Hanger Hill).

The number of voters currently registered in each of the three wards are:

Hanger Hill : 11,222
Northolt Mandeville Electorate : 11,838
South Acton : 11,994

Anyone living in those wards who is not currently registered to vote can do so by visiting: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

The deadline for applying for a postal vote, or to change or cancel an existing postal or proxy vote, is 5pm 25 September 2024.
The deadline for applying for a new proxy vote, which allows a registered to nominate a registered person to cast a vote on their behalf is 5pm on Wednesday 2 October 2024.
