Young artists in Ealing are being invited by Ealing Council to take part in a competition to design this year’s Council Christmas Card. The card will be used by its leader, cabinet members, chief executive and senior council officers to send festive greetings thanking people for their work and contribution to the borough.
The competition is open to anyone who attends a school in the borough and is 18 or younger. There are three categories, six and under, 7-11 and 12-18 years and one overall winner.
In 2021, the overall winner was Alice Allsop-Elliott. Her artwork was used on the front of the card and the other category winners and highly commended entrants were also shown on the reverse of the card.
Ealing Council leader Councillor Peter Mason said: “When we ran a Christmas card competition last year I was blown away by the talent of young people in Ealing and I’m very much looking forward to seeing their designs this year. I feel sure that, just like last year, those who receive a Christmas card with the winning design will be giving it pride of place in their home.”

Last year’s competition theme was a design that shows what the young artist loves about the borough. This year, the Council’s theme is sport or healthy lives.
The Council says “Entrants must draw, colour or paint a design with a theme of sport or healthy lives in Ealing. This could include sport activity in local parks, green spaces or leisure centres or examples of living a healthy life. Designs could also include local landmarks or even family, friends and pets.”
The competition will be judged by Councillor Mason, Councillor Kamiljit Nagpal, cabinet member for a fairer start, Councillor Josh Blacker, cabinet member for healthy lives and Councillor Jasbir Anand, cabinet member for thriving communities.
Closing date for the competition is 5pm on November 27 2022 and winners will be announced week starting 28 November 2022.
To enter, young artists will need to send a photo or a scanned image of their design and indicate the age and category they are entering along with name, age and school.
The artwork needs to be A3 or A4 in size and in landscape format and the image emailed to: vaghelah@ealing.gov.uk
