Following a group meeting last night (15 May 2023), Ealing Council’s official opposition, Ealing Liberal Democrats, have confirmed that its existing councillors will be retaining their current roles.
Councillor Gary Malcolm continues as leader Ealing Liberal Democrats with Councillor Gary Busuttil as deputy leader and whip.
Councillor Malcolm said: “Liberal Democrats will continue their role of scrutinising Ealing Council to further expose failings such as their poor record of housing repairs, not being responsive when residents contact the Council and their proposals to destroy some of the wonderful flora and fauna on Warren Farm. Liberal Democrats will continue to listen to residents and businesses to push the Council to make changes to help people in Ealing like we did when we persuaded Ealing Council to reverse their light dimming policy.”
The roles of its six councillors as opposition to Ealing Labour are:
Councillor Gary Malcolm – Leader of the Council’s Portfolio, Transport and Jobs.
Councillor Gary Busuttil – Finance, ICT and Council Performance.
Councillor Athena Zissimos – Environment including streets, parks and trees.
Councillor Connie Hersch – Crime, antisocial behaviour, communities & town centres.
Councillor Andrew Steed – Caring services, including health, education and benefits.
Councillor Jon Ball – Planning, including Local Plan and Housing.
