Massive pothole in North Acton which residents say Ealing Council has not repaired for months

Residents and commuters using Victoria Road in North Acton have raised their concerns that a massive pothole in the road which appeared several months ago has not been repaired by Ealing Council.

The deep pothole located in the middle of the road is impacting drivers and also cyclists who fear for their safety as well as potential damage to their cars and bikes.

One driver told EALING.NEWS: “This is really dangerous for everyone.  Cyclists and motorbike users can easily fall when coming across this large pothole. It’s only a matter of time before something happens.”

Opposition parties to Labour-run Ealing Council say not enough is being done by the Council.

Ealing Liberal Democrats have expressed their concern over how many potholes and poor pavements there are in Ealing which Ealing Council is not “pro-active” in dealing with the issue. Conservatives have also said a “comprehensive programme of street repairs is needed”.

Liberal Democrat spokesperson for environment Councillor Athena Zissimos told EALING.NEWS: “Ealing Council should be inspecting its roads and pavements on a regular basis. The Council should not be relying on the general public to be pointing out potholes and broken pavements to them. They should be pro-active and sort out little potholes before they become big great potholes, such as that pictured.”

Councillor Julian Gallant, Conservative leader told EALING.NEWS: “Ealing Conservatives have argued for a comprehensive programme of street repairs at every election since 2014. Potholes like these are not just unsightly; they damage vehicles and are genuinely dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.”

EALING.NEWS has today (12 October 2022) now raised this with Ealing Council through the Ealing Council 24/7 app and will update on when it is fixed.

EALING.NEWS has approached Ealing Council for a comment.
