Mayor of Ealing hosts first ever LGBT+ Pride reception and announces taking part in Pride parade in London

The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Hitesh Tailor hosted the first ever Ealing Mayoral LGBT+ Pride reception on Thursday evening (29 June 2023).

The event which took place at Teatro Hall in Ealing Broadway, saw a number a number of local politicians as well as Ealing Council LGBT+ staff group attend.

Among those celebrating and recognising LGBT+ communities were Ealing North MP James Murray and Ealing Southall MP Virendra Sharma.

Ealing Council Deputy Leader, Councillor Deirdre Costigan, GLA Member Dr Onkar Sahota and Councillor Ben Wesson were also in attendance at the event.

In a tweet, the Mayor said: “The reception was to celebrate the work of LGBT+ communities and organisations that support them incl
@Spectra_London @_wlqp @Stonewallhousin, @33ActonHighSt @GINindianUK and @EalingCouncil LGBT+ staff group. I will be joining the Pride Parade on Sat 1st July in London.”

On Saturday (1 July 2023), the Mayor will be joining with Ealing Council staff who will be attending the Pride in London march. This is the first time Ealing Council has had a place in the march. According to the council, 50 staff and councillors will be attending and holding signs with the with the council logo adapted as a rainbow tree, and the council motto adapted to read ‘Progress with Unity, Diversity and Pride’.
